» Executive Director’s Biography

Dr. Ernie Alama serves as the Executive Director of Metric and Metrics Inc. (MMI), where he brings a broad and multidisciplinary perspective shaped by his experience in research, corporate leadership, community development, data analytics, and education. His professional work is anchored in evidence-based practice, innovation, and a strong focus on achieving measurable and meaningful impact for organizations and communities.

He holds a Doctorate in Educational Research from the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada, and a Master’s degree in Management from the University of Technology Sydney in New South Wales, Australia. He has also pursued further studies in Community Economic Development at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, further strengthening his expertise in sustainable, community-focused initiatives.

Dr. Alama is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at St. Mary’s University, where he teaches and conducts research. His academic interests span participatory action research, diversity and inclusion, wellness, immigration, social engagement, community economic development, and seniors and disability studies. In addition to his academic work, he contributes to community-based publications that explore themes of identity, migration, and ethno-diversity.

He maintains active membership in several professional organizations, including the Project Management Institute (PMI) and its Alberta Chapter, the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES), the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC), and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (Alberta Chapter). He is a Licensed Financial Professional in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Ontario. Beyond his professional commitments, Dr. Alama is actively involved in community leadership and volunteerism, serving in key roles with the Calgary Connect Lions Club, the GTA Foundation, Church-based ministries, and seniors groups in Calgary.
